ok so listen, if ur traveling and u skip street food… ur missing like half the experience. fancy restaurants are cool but nothing beats eating from a lil stall on the side of the road with the smell, the crowd, the whole vibe. its cheap, its yummy, sometimes sketchy lol but def worth it. here’s my messy guide to some of the best street food around the world .

1. India – Chaat & Samosa

india = heaven for street food. samosas, pani puri, bhel puri… u can eat a full meal for like 2 dollars. its spicy tho so be ready to cry happy tears .

2. Mexico – Tacos

ok tacos are LIFE. u get fresh tortilla, meat, salsa, lime, omg so good. street tacos always taste better than restaurant ones idk why. plus super cheap.

3. Thailand – Pad Thai & Mango Sticky Rice

if u go bangkok n dont eat pad thai from a street cart are u even living? noodles, peanuts, lime, perfect mix. then dessert = mango sticky rice… sweet + fresh. 10/10 recommend.

4. Japan – Takoyaki & Yakitori

takoyaki = little octopus balls (sounds weird but trust me, delicious). yakitori = grilled chicken skewers. grab n go food, perfect for late night snack walking around tokyo.

5. Turkey – Doner Kebab

doner kebabs are everywhere in istanbul. meat spinning on that big stick, cut fresh into pita with veggies. filling + affordable. also super popular in europe too.

6. Vietnam – Banh Mi

banh mi is like a french + vietnam mix. crunchy bread, meat, veggies, sauce… perfect sandwich honestly. u can find them on every street corner.

7. China – Dumplings

street dumplings >>> restaurant dumplings. steamed, fried, soup inside sometimes. cheap and addictive. i ate like 20 in one go once, no regrets.

ok not as exotic but classic. nyc hot dog cart, pretzel stand = iconic. cheap, quick, salty snack while u explore.

these spicy rice cakes are addictive af. chewy, spicy, sweet. koreans eat them like comfort food. try with fish cakes too, sooo good.
